Practical small pellets, powder that is easy to mix with a higher CBD content or would you prefer small drops of CBD oil that you put directly into the mouth - which product is suitable for what and how do they actually differ?
What can CBD do?
CBD is a plant substance from the hemp plant and does NOT make you high because it contains less than 0.2% THC and is therefore legal.
Like humans, animals have their own endocannabinoid system and produce various cannabinoids themselves. These endocannabinoids are very similar to those of the hemp plant. The ECS ensures that homeostasis is maintained throughout the organism. However, various influences can cause this system to become unbalanced. Inflammation, pain, stress or digestive problems are the result. The cannabinoid CBD gently helps to eliminate the cause of the problems in the long term and can help to restore quality of life.
hemp pellets with 1% CBD content
Our small, practical hemp pellets consist of 100% hemp flowers and leaves from organically certified industrial hemp of the Felina 32 variety.
The pellets are ideal for feeding by hand or mixing (or having mixed) into dry concentrate feed.
We have deliberately refrained from adding other parts of the hemp plant in order to ensure the full spectrum of effects of the cannabinoids and other secondary ingredients that are only present in flowers and leaves.
The pellets can be fed dry or wet. If your pet is very picky, we recommend choosing hemp powder because you need to add less.
hemp powder with 3% CBD content
The hemp powder also consists of 100% valuable hemp flowers and leaves from the organically certified industrial hemp variety Eletta Campana. The hemp powder is the most natural form of our CBD products, as it is neither pressed nor extracted, but only gently ground. Here, too, we have deliberately refrained from adding other parts of the hemp plant.
The powder should best be mixed into the (wet) food so that it is not blown out of the trough and is ideally absorbed.
CBD oils - hemp extract with full spectrum oil
The CBD oil is produced using CO2 extraction. The cannabinoids are released from the hemp plants under high pressure. The subsequent reduction in pressure releases the active ingredients through the CO2. In the next step, the ingredients are activated so that they can then have an effect on your four-legged friend.
CBD oils are preparations made from the CBD extract from flowers and leaves described above and a carrier oil - in our products, of course, our own hemp oil. It is also important when deciding which CBD oil to choose that a full-spectrum oil is used, as this contains different amounts of natural cannabinoids, as well as terpenes and flavonoids. The interaction of all these ingredients results in a proven improvement in bioavailability (i.e. how much can actually be used by the body) and the so-called entourage effect. This means that the interaction of various ingredients of the hemp plant is many times more effective than just the monocomponent CBD.
The CBD oil (10% for dogs, 20% for horses) should be applied directly to the oral mucosa.
Different CBD products for different problems?
The use of CBD is very individual for both humans and animals and therefore does not follow any clear rules or dosages, but rather only recommendations. How the body reacts to it, whether more or less is enough, etc. is ultimately up to the body itself. By observing, you will quickly notice which dosage is right for you or your four-legged friend.
Our dosage recommendations are based on our experience. Over the years, we have been able to gather a wealth of experience with a wide variety of animals and people, who always give us great feedback and tell us amazing stories of effectiveness. This actually moves us to tears every now and then - if you're happy, we are too :)
The following rules of thumb apply:
- the CBD content of 3g powder corresponds to that of 10g pellets
- the pellets are about ⅓ cheaper per kilo, so you get the same
- Both powder and pellets consist of 100% flowers and leaves of the plant, terpenes and flavonoids may vary slightly depending on the variety.
- In case of severe stress , pain , inflammation and flare-ups, the combination of hemp powder and CBD oil is best
dosage of CBD products
In general, it is ideal if the feeding of our products is split into two portions per day. This is because CBD is effective in the body for around 8-10 hours and because the digestive tract of horses is very sensitive, so split feeding is generally preferable.
However, since many are only in the stable once a day, it is still not a problem if this ideal situation cannot be met - even then our products provide comprehensive support for your pets.
If the problem is very serious, you could consider splitting up the feeding so that you feed part of the feed as soon as you arrive at the stable and the second part shortly before you drive home. Some of our customers also combine the powder products with the pellets: pellets are given in the morning from the stable, and the powder is then given in mash or Speedibeets in the evening.
Here we have summarized our most common experiences, based on a 500-600kg horse with more severe symptoms:
Osteoarthritis:
- 30-50g hemp pellets in the manger feed/concentrate feed (e.g. in the morning from the stable)
- 20-30g hemp powder in the daily feed (mash, cobs etc.)
- 20-40ml of hemp oil
- If necessary (flare-ups, weather changes, farrier, etc.), add 5-7 drops of 20% CBD oil directly into the mouth
- alternatively only once a day hemp powder or hemp pellets
- supplementary treatment with our arthroFIT
Stomach problems:
- 30-50g hemp powder in the daily feed (mash, cobs etc.)
- 20-40ml of Han oil
- Alternatively, combine with 30-50g hemp pellets and feed twice daily
- if necessary, supplement with gastroBALANCE
Stress/nerve problems:
- 6-week course of CBD oil 20% and CBG oil booster 10%
- subsequent administration of 30-50g hemp powder & 20-40ml hemp oil
- Alternatively, combine with the hemp pellets and feed twice a day
- treatment with stressAWAY
- In acute stress situations such as changing stables, New Year's Eve or training, the combination of stressAWAY + CBD oil is recommended
Conclusion
Our CBD products differ mainly in the form of administration and dosage. Unlike CBD oil, in pellets and powder the CBD is also present in its natural acid form (CBDa), so a larger amount is needed to make it available in the animal's body.
All products should be fed slowly and will show their full effect after around 2-3 weeks. The dosage is very individual, but should always start low and then slowly increase.
For all our products containing CBD, we recommend adding an oil or oilseed to the feed, as CBD is oil-soluble.
