In addition to my horse Liam, my dog Rico also gets a product from the Seewinkler Hemp Factory.
Rico is an 11-year-old mongrel male, who unfortunately did not have an easy start in life. He comes from Greece, where he was found with a few weeks on a camping site together with his brother. We met a few weeks later and since then he is a member of our family.
Rico has been struggling with a few issues from a young age, he gets scared and stressed quickly and during puberty he got into the habit of going into defense mode as soon as something gets uncomfortable. This has presented us with quite a few challenges.
In general, he gets stressed very quickly, whether it's a gunshot in the woods, a car driving by too fast, or the annual New Year's Eve crash - he's hard to calm down then and can't get out of shaking. In addition, he was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in his knee joints when he was a young dog, and his back and hips have also begun to age a bit.
In order to support him optimally in his old age and at the same time to reduce his stress a bit, I got advice from the hemp factory and chose the CBD oil with 10% for Rico. On the one hand, it should support him in his physical complaints, reduce the arthritis pain and take away some of the stress.
After about 3 months of use, I can report quite a bit:
Rico has become much calmer and more relaxed. When a shot is fired, he still gets a little scared, but he actually calms down again after a short time - this was never the case for the last 11 years. His arthritis problems also restrict him much less than they did a few weeks ago, he seems generally more agile and capable, and can also get quite wild and funny at times. :)
Initially, we have the CBD oil after slowly creeping in then a little higher doses, but this has made him a bit tired and he slept a lot - after consulting with the hemp company, we have then tried a bit around and now found the right dose for him.
We are really convinced by the products, because they give our four-legged friends so much in terms of well-being and physical fitness. They have definitely earned it. Thank you dear hemp!
Update August 2023:
Since my last report, a lot has happened with us. Rico is now 13 and has had a spleen tumor surgery (in December 2022 as an accidental finding). On the advice of our vet, I have supported him before and after the very difficult operation with the CBD 10% oil - initially 10 drops directly after the operation and then slowly reduced. I smeared the scar with the skin balm and it healed beautifully and also the post-surgery examination was super stress-free (Rico really has vet trauma, but since the CBD he is much much more relaxed there too). After consultation with the vet, we give Rico the CBD oil since then permanently and increase it in stressful situations.
He is doing great with it, gastrointestinal problems he hardly has and he stresses much much less, is more relaxed and just generally calmer. I hope that I can continue to support him with CBD products for a long time.
