Supplementary feed? Yes, no, what's the point?
Anyone who knows me knows how little attention I pay to horse feeding. Even in my studies I found the subject rather tedious. Let's be honest, if we paid as much attention to our own nutrition as we do to that of our horses, we would all be superwomen and supermen, wouldn't we?
Once again I have been proven wrong.
All last winter I started feeding Escord the CBD pellets made from organic hemp. They were recommended to me because I complained about Escord walking so stiff again in the cold days and I think that the first little arthrosis are a little painful.
After three weeks my gelding was like changed and totally motivated at work! He marched off clearly loose and after 10min walk work and 5min trot he was already loose chewing and relaxed. I couldn't believe it and would have liked to say: "No, it's not the food...". But we have changed nothing else....
So it must be due to the positive effects of CBD on stress, anxiety and inflammation!
With the warmer days in the spring, I wanted to double check and stopped the CBD pellets. This went well for a while, but with our move to the mountains, I realized Escord just needed support. After his jumping career, his joints are already more stressed than other horses his age. Especially when we go down hills, his arthritis becomes noticeable. When we asked the hemp company, they recommended us the CBD oil (20%). At first I was a little unsure because it should be given directly on the mucous membrane. But that turned out to be quite easy, so I can just drizzle it into Escord's lower lip.
Normally I am very cautious with recommendations. But I can really recommend the CBD products of the seewinkler hemp farm to you and definitely recommend them for every horse that is struggling with the first signs of aging or not exactly diagnosable performance losses. Finally, CBD and hemp feeding is not a medicine, but a purely natural and, in the case of the hemp factory, an organic supplementary feed.
